"Information technology and business are becoming inextricably interwoven. I don't think anybody can talk meaningfully about one without the talking about the other" - Bill Gates
ICT is an acronym that stands for Information Communications Tecnology.
The phrase was coined by the new National Curriculum documents for the UK in 2000.
It is an umbrella term that includes any communication device or application, encompassing: radio, television, cellular phones, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems as well as the various services and applications associated with them.
As stated by the European Commission, the importance of ICTs lies less in the technology itself than in its ability to create greater access to information and communication in underserved populations.
